Stabat Mater is a 13th-century hymn that describes the suffering of Mary as she witnessed the crucifixion of her son Jesus. Cathedral director of music Stephan Casurella conducts two settings of the text: Pergolesi’s beloved Stabat Mater and a setting for choir, strings, and harp by Paul Mealor.
